The Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly on Monday 18th November 2024 supported thirty five (35) registered persons living with disabilities (PWDs) who were approved to be given support.
Twenty (20) persons out of the thirty five (35) were presented with commodities and groceries, proving them with financial liberation and the opportunity to venture into enterprise and15 persons received educational support as part of the Government 3% common fund allocation to PWDs through the Social Warfare Department.
The Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly, Hon. Alhaji Babs Bodinga presented the equipment to the beneficiaries in fulfilment of the disability fund Act 175 and said the Assembly was committed to lessening the plight of PWDs.
He said the support was to assist the PWDs to establish medium scale enterprises in order to earn a living to support their families and society.
He assured that, the Assembly would embark on a monitoring exercise to ensure that, the equipment and funds were put to good use.
The Municipal Social Works Department, Mr. Nimako Yamoah urged the beneficiaries to carefully manage the allocated resources, thereby contributing tangibly to the socio-economic progress of the Municipal.
Expression of gratitude were shared by the beneficiaries after the distribution exercise, extolling the Municipal Assembly for a great work done.
The programme which was held at the forecourt of the Assembly premises was graced by some dignitaries, namely Mr., Emil Tawiah Atsu, Municipal Coordinating Director, Honorable Elvis Yeboah, Chairman of Disability Fund Management Committee, Municipal Social Works Department, Mr. Nimako Yamoah, some Assembly members, and some staff of the Assembly
