The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Abuakwa North Municipality, Charles Darko Yeboah, has inspected the ongoing construction of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound with ancillary facilities at Aboabo.
The project, which is currently about 99% complete, was originally initiated under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. However, it stalled and was later abandoned before work resumed to bring it to its current near-completion stage.
Upon inspection, Hon. Charles Darko Yeboah expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of work, urging contractors to complete the remaining works swiftly so the facility can be put into use.
When completed, the CHPS compound is expected to significantly improve access to healthcare for residents of Aboabo and nearby communities, offering services such as maternal and child healthcare, disease prevention, and basic medical treatment.
The MCE emphasised that completing abandoned projects remains a priority to ensure that public resources are not wasted and that communities benefit from essential infrastructure.
Residents have welcomed the development, expressing relief that the long-delayed project is finally nearing completion and will soon serve their healthcare needs.
