On 5th March 2026, the Municipal AIDS Committee of Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) commemorated the 2026 Child Labour Day to create awareness on Child and Forced Labour in the Municipality. The gathering was sensitized on HIV/AIDS and the need for all to get tested and be protected against the disease.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee, the Focal Person, Mamatta Alhassan urged the youth not to engage in early sex because indiscriminate sexual conduct will result in the spread of Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STD) including HIV/AIDS. She also emphasized on the usage of condom should anyone engage in active sex and encourage all to report rape cases to the right authorities for action.
