As majority of the people in Abuakwa North Municipality lament on the “lackadaisical” approach of M/s Itracco Ghana Limited to the construction of a 5.9 kilometer Ofori Panin Senior High School through Akyem New-Tafo township to Akyem Old-Tafo Engen stretch of bituminous surfacing road.
The Municipal urban roads engineer for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region, MrBenard Adams, has assured the people of Akyem New-Tafo that, his office as mandated to supervise the contract which was signed between Government of Ghana and the aforementioned firm in 2020 with funding from road fund, will be completed by the end of 2021 as scheduled.
He debunked rumors that, the contractor abandoned the project and further explained that, the contract is in phases, the first phase which was drainage construction was completed by the contractor on schedule and thus, the rest will also be completed on schedule.
It could be recalled that, this stretch of road was first constructed in 1995 by the erstwhile late President JJ Rawlings’ administration and has since seen no face lift until now.
